Citroën has released official teaser images of an electric 2CV concept, reviving the model 36 years after production ended. The concept will make its public debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show and uses familiar 2CV design cues, although Citroën has not announced technical specifications for the electric powertrain.
Design cues from the original 2CV
The Citroën 2CV electric concept retains the high roof and rounded body outline associated with the original model. Official teaser images show several details:
- Half-round LED headlamps projecting from the rounded front wings
- An illuminated Citroën double-chevron badge
- A creased bonnet surface inspired by the original 2CV
- Disc-style wheels and exposed rounded door handles
- An indicator light positioned on the C-pillar

Citroën also published images of an umbrella and eggs. These refer to the original 2CV’s simple weather protection and its early design target of carrying eggs across rough ground without breaking them.

Confirmed electric format and public debut
The Citroën 2CV electric concept is confirmed as a battery-electric vehicle, but Citroën has not released power, battery, range or charging figures. The source report says a production version is expected in 2028. The concept itself is scheduled to appear at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.

The original Citroën 2CV first appeared at the 1948 Paris Motor Show and entered production in 1949. Production continued until 1990, with approximately 5.1 million vehicles built over its 42-year production run.
