Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Tiguan, a battery-electric SUV due to launch in Europe in early 2027. Presales in Germany and several other European markets start October 13 at EUR 42,695. Built on the MEB+ platform, the five-seat model offers three powertrains, two battery sizes and up to 600 km of WLTP range.
Dimensions and exterior design
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan measures 4,618 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,619 mm tall, with a 2,765 mm wheelbase. It provides a 32-litre front storage compartment and up to 534 litres of rear luggage capacity.
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan uses the brand’s Pure Positive design language, with a more upright SUV shape than the ID.4 and ID.5. It also returns to conventional exterior door handles. The model will be produced at Volkswagen’s Emden plant in Germany and sold alongside combustion, diesel and hybrid Tiguan variants.

Cabin displays and physical controls
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan cabin combines a 10-inch digital instrument display with a 15-inch centre screen. A 12-inch front-passenger display is optional and is described as the first passenger screen offered on a European-market Volkswagen. Its privacy mode prevents the driver from seeing the content, while the passenger can use Bluetooth headphones.
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan restores physical buttons for basic climate functions and the multifunction steering wheel. A centre-console knob controls volume and track selection, while two Qi2 wireless charging positions use magnetic rings to hold phones in place.

A Retro display mode can reproduce instrument graphics associated with six earlier Volkswagen models. Standard equipment includes one-pedal driving, while optional driver assistance supports assisted lane changes on motorways and traffic-light recognition. Other available equipment includes a shareable digital key, a V2L PowerSocket adapter, massaging and ventilated front seats, a 480 W Harman Kardon audio system and a panoramic roof.
Three electric powertrains
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan is offered with three electric powertrain combinations:
| Output | Drive | Battery | Maximum towing capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 140 kW | Rear-wheel drive | 58 kWh | 1,800 kg |
| 210 kW | Rear-wheel drive | 77 kWh | 2,000 kg |
| 220 kW | 4MOTION all-wheel drive | 77 kWh | 2,000 kg |
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan reaches up to 600 km of WLTP range. Combined energy consumption is listed at 14.6–17.2 kWh/100 km.
