Mercedes-Benz will launch the China-built long-wheelbase GLE SUV on September 16, 2026. Positioned as a midsize-to-large SUV, the model has a 3,115 mm wheelbase and will be offered as the GLE 350 L and GLE 450 L. It also introduces a Doubao AI virtual assistant and a Momenta-based driver-assistance system.
What changes on the China-built GLE L?
The China-built Mercedes-Benz GLE L adopts the latest Mercedes-Benz family design language. The front features a large shield-shaped grille with a prominent three-pointed-star emblem, while the headlamps incorporate star-shaped daytime running lights.

Five exterior colors will be available, including two new shades identified by the source as Black Jade Grey and Turquoise Green. The side retains the GLE’s triangular rear-quarter window and uses body-colored wheel-arch and lower-body trim. The vehicle measures 5,051 mm long, 2,018 mm wide and 1,784 mm tall, with a 3,115 mm wheelbase. Buyers can choose 20- or 21-inch wheels.
At the rear, star-shaped taillight graphics echo the headlamp design. A black trim panel links the two lamp units to create a full-width visual effect.
What technology is included inside?
The Mercedes-Benz GLE L cabin uses a three-screen dashboard and includes the Doubao AI virtual assistant as standard. The center armrest retains physical controls and incorporates wireless phone charging, Type-C ports and temperature-controlled cupholders.

The initial driver-assistance system is based on Momenta’s R6 large model and supports assisted driving on urban roads and highways. Mercedes-Benz plans to upgrade the system later to Momenta’s R7 world model. According to the source, the R7 version is intended to add full-scenario navigation assistance from one parking space to another.
How is rear-seat comfort upgraded?
The long-wheelbase GLE has redesigned rear seats with longer and thicker cushions. Confirmed rear-cabin equipment includes:
- Rear-seat heating
- Heated headrests
- Multipoint massage
- Dual rear entertainment screens
- Gesture-based content sharing between screens
