BMW has revealed the iX4, a Neue Klasse electric coupe SUV scheduled to launch in March 2027. The dual-motor lineup includes the iX4 40 xDrive, iX4 50 xDrive and iX4 M60 xDrive, while the longest-range version is rated at up to 828 km under WLTP and supports DC charging at up to 400 kW.
Neue Klasse exterior and dimensions
The BMW iX4 measures 4,782 mm long, 1,895 mm wide and 1,595 mm tall, with a 2,897 mm wheelbase. BMW lists a drag coefficient of 0.23. The coupe-style SUV uses a long-wheelbase, short-overhang layout, a panoramic glass roof, a rear spoiler and 20-inch M light-alloy wheels.

The iX4 M60 xDrive adds model-specific M exterior trim, yellow lighting elements, unique mirrors, a rear spoiler and black detailing.
Panoramic iDrive cabin equipment
The BMW iX4 uses a panoramic iDrive system that projects information along the lower edge of the windscreen and pairs it with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen. A 3D head-up display is optional, while the voice assistant uses Amazon Alexa+ technology.

The source lists the following cabin equipment:
- Electrically adjustable sport seats with memory
- 40:20:40 split-folding rear seatbacks
- Optional rear-seat heating
- Seven-speaker, 205-watt standard audio system
- Available 13-speaker, 430-watt Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos

Powertrain, charging and chassis
The BMW iX4 uses sixth-generation eDrive technology with cylindrical battery cells and an 800-volt electrical platform. Three dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions are listed:
| Version | Output | Torque | 0–100 km/h | WLTP range | Top speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iX4 40 xDrive | 275 kW | 520 Nm | 5.6 seconds | 638 km | Not stated |
| iX4 50 xDrive | 345 kW | 645 Nm | 4.9 seconds | 828 km | 210 km/h |
| iX4 M60 xDrive | 450 kW | Not stated | 3.9 seconds | Up to 777 km, estimated | 240 km/h |
The iX4 50 xDrive has 108.7 kWh of usable battery capacity. At a peak charging rate of 400 kW, BMW states that 10 minutes of charging can add 387 km of range under ideal conditions.
The platform uses BMW’s Heart of Joy central computer to coordinate powertrain and chassis functions. The M60 xDrive adds adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering and an electronically controlled M rear differential. BMW also states that its highway assistance system supports hands-free driving at up to 130 km/h and automated lane changes on compliant roads in selected countries.
